What You Probably Been Missing From Your Beauty Regime

The thought of putting oil on my face always made me a bit uncomfortable. I've never had particularly oily skin, but I definitely didn't want it to get worse.

Well, doing some reading lately I found out that actually, oil is pretty damn important to our skin, especially our faces. Some things oil helps with are, wrinkles (due to antioxidants that are found in most oils), protects skin against pollution and they can even shrink your pores!

After being completely enlightened, I went to buy a new mi cellar water, which I buy from Garner, and noticed there was an oil infused mi cellar water. I picked this up and started using it about 2 months ago, and honestly the difference has been insane. I noticed the difference almost immediately. My skin was more even and it was a bit firmer.

I thought as it was working so well, I should definitely try an oil all by itself. I had 2 little bottles of oil from my monthly beauty subscription from Glossy box, one Body Shop, one L'Occitane. Out of the two I definitely felt more of a result from the Body Shop oil, but both have been great.

I'll definitely get round to buying a full sized Body Shop Oils of Youth, but in the meantime I was scanning Amazon and found Hanuka Doctor Facial Oil on offer, so I nabbed it. I've started using it the past few days and I'm already excited to start seeing the results. Kourtney Kardashian is a big fan of Hanuka Doctor, and if it's good enough for her, it's definitely good enough for me!

The moral of the story is USE OIL. Seriously. Use it. Don't let it scare you; you can thank me later.

The Ultimate Pamper Product: Timeless Truth's Sheet Mask

If you're looking for a clean and simple way to get spa standard treatments for your face at home, look no further - Timeless Truth Sheet Masks have you covered.

If you're a follower of my blog you'll remember when I tried the new trend on the market - sheet masks. I've been lucky enough to try Timeless Truth's Eye Masks and When's Full Face Sheet Mask. I honestly loved them both (the eye mask was by far my favourite as I always have bags under my eyes, so was a perfect fit for me).

So, guess what? I'm back with another sheet mask. This time I'm testing out Timeless Truth's Full Face Sheet Mask, their Herbal Rejuvenation Immortelle Mask*.

I've never had perfect skin, but I've also never had terrible skin. Like most, I go through patches of good and bad. For some reason, I'm going through a bad patch (particularly, around the bottom of my face *cries*). I'm also off to London on the weekend, and having a spray tan beforehand, so I thought this is the perfect opportunity to get some pampering in (as best a reason as any right?).

What's the verdict?

So this went on much better than when I tried When's Sheet Mask. It stayed in place for the whole 20 minutes, and even got firmer as time went on (which made me feel like it was working). My skin definitely felt much firmer after it and really soft.

This mask is said to reduce fine lines, dryness and some blemishes, and leave your face smooth and silky! I definitely feel it's lived up to it's big promise.

See for yourself below, pictures starting before, during and directly after!

Sheet Masks - Are They Worth The Hype? Take 2!

So, it would seem the next craze on the beauty scene are Bio-Cellulose Sheet Masks. I'm not sure if you seen my recent review on Timeless Truth eye mask, but now I'm trying When Travelmate Face mask that I received in one of my Birchbox's. I love these masks as they are

like a mini spa facial but in the comfort of your own home. There's no fussing, sticky fingers or left-over mud under your chin. It's all very chic, and perfect for a pamper night that's well deserved and well needed.

What is When Travelmate?

Travelmate helps you soothe the skin when it is damaged by UV rays, wind, dry cabin air and travel fatigue. Its Swiss Alpine herb extracts gently hydrate your skin, and other natural ingredients help you restore moisture and a healthy glow. Ingredients such as glycerin and sodium hyaluronate moisturize, while extracts from grapefruit seed, bamboo stem, pine leaf, and ginseng help to keep skin healthy and stunning. Perfect for these cold, winter months we're getting!

It's a high-quality face mask that uses a bio-cellulose sheet created by fermenting coconut juice (fancy, right?). When describe its masks as containing a high volume of fluid that's very effective in transferring the liquid nutrients to skin due to its ultrafine, three-dimensional structure. Its also described as comfortable and has a soft texture design to perfectly fit all face shapes.

Sounds pretty damn good and the packaging is pretty snazzy too.

What's the verdict?

The mask is secured by sheet paper and plastic film, which proved quite difficult to get in to. Getting the actual mask out of the protective layers was really fussy, which takes away the fuss free feeling from using sheet masks, but I got there in the end. When I was eventually ready to begin my spa at home, I placed the mask on my face and found it didn't quite fit my face as they originally claimed. It was far too big which meant it kept sliding off. I kept having to adjust the mask to ensure I was taking in the serum, which as you can imagine wasn't as relaxing as I was hoping for.

I must be honest, even with all this fidgeting, I really liked the mask and am definitely a fan of sheet masks altogether. I took the mask off and rubbed the rest of the serum in to my face and neck as instructed. My face definitely felt generally better overall, and I think it looked a lot fresher. Here are my before and after pictures (which I'm so nervous about posting!). I do find that my face looks plumper and smoother.

They cost £25.00 for a pack of 4, which is quite steep. I wouldn't be buying these to use every week, but for a treat I think they're perfect. I can't imagine the results you'd have if you were using these constantly. No wonder these celebs have the skin they do! I approve (but if you don't have much patients, a face mask in a tub may be a better option for you!).

Kleem Organics - The Serum with 20% Vitamin C Content

For the past few weeks I have updated my skin care routine. Up until a year ago - that skin care routine didn't even exist. I began with the basics and started using a set of toners, moisturisers and cleansers. I only found that this seemed to make my skin worse with the amount of added extras that they seem to put in the solutions. I decided I needed something that was very natural and had no scary added bits.

Ever since then I've been using the Dead Sea Spa Face Wash and Exfoliator, and every day I use Garnier Micellar water. I must admit they have been a god send. The water is exactly what I wanted. It's fresh, clean and drama free. My skin has drastically improved. You see, I suffer with blotchy redness on my cheeks, and have a lot of bumps under my skin. So for a while, I've felt what I've been doing has been sufficient and has helped.

I've recently spoken with the owners of Kleem Organics* who have kindly offered me their product to try. I've added this to my regime for the past 5 weeks. First impressions - a very sleek bottle and smells deliciously fruity and fresh! The key thing about this product is the Vitamin C content - a whopping 20%, which is currently unprecedented in the UK.

Kleem Organics Key Points

Due to its light consistency, the serum penetrates deep inside the skin working on a cellular level, preventing, protecting, nourishing and repairing the skin cells with the vitamins they need to maintain a fresh, vibrant appearance.

The high percentage (20%) of Vitamin C ensures maximum antioxidant potential in order to protect the skin against UV radiation & environmental pollution (including cigarette smoke). And the best part of all - its natural stimulation of collagen, completely renews and rejuvenates the skin from the inside out, reduction of pore size, translating into less acne and blackheads on the skin, plus elimination of excessive oil from the skin, which makes the skin less prone to acne (I know right, wowser!).

How do you use it?

The instructions tell you to use a small amount each day and rub it all over your face. I used this as part of my night-time routine. I used one pump of the serum and ensured it was all over, especially my problem areas. After it dries (which is quite quickly, about 10 seconds so be sure to rub it in fast!) you start to feel your face slightly tightening.

Does it work?

With a product like this, you can't expect to see results overnight. You need to be using the products for a good few weeks to ensure you're giving yourself realistic expectations! I've used the serum for a good few weeks now, and I started noticing very small enhancements quite early on, not massive improvements, but minor ones. The elasticity of my skin seemed to be better and more youthful (I'm in my twenties so I'm not fighting a massive battle here, but still every little helps).

I also found that the blotchy redness - the stuff that made me look like I'd ran 3 laps - seemed to die down. Again not massively difference but enough of a difference that I've noticed. It has really made my skin brighter, a glow if you will, and definitely feels fresher. I'm still in the process of using my serum, so I'm hoping these improvements are going to continue!

You can try Kleem out for yourself here. Let me know what you think of it!

Sheet Masks - Are They Worth The Hype?

I'm always up for trying new things, so recently I caught up with Timeless Truth and their new product on the market. They offer a new kind of mask; a sheet mask. I know right? What is it? Basically it's a sort of cotton cloth with an already built in mask for your pamper nights.

The main appealing thing for me was no more 'peel-able' face masks that actually get stuck to every nook and crannie of your face (is it just me?!). Timeless Truth were kind enough to offer me a sample to try, and I received their Eye Rejuvenating Bio Cellulose Eye Mask

If you're anything like me, under the eye area is a uh-not-looking-so-fresh area. Said to reduce dryness and relieve that all important puffiness, it also soothes and tones this area of fragile skin.

What are Sheet Masks and how are they different?

Sheet Masks are definitely the latest beauty obsession. And you can see why - a mere twenty-minute application can transform skin so that it is plump, glowing and hydrated.

Timeless Truth has launched a range of sheet masks suitable for all skin types. The sheet masks use fabric which have beneficial properties: elastic-cotton for enhancing anti-ageing results and bio-cellulose for intense hydration.

What's the verdict?

So I was a little hesitant at first. I opened the packet and it was so slimy! The product inside did kind of go a little everywhere as I wasn't expecting it - so if you've got one to try, watch out for this! I followed the instruction on the back - pulled the eye mask out of its protective coating and slipped it on. I then used the left over serum over the rest of my face, concentrating on the eye area.

Immediately after taking the sheet mask off (after 20 minutes), my eye area felt noticeably tighter. It looked way less puffy and just looked more rejuvenated with a nice soft touch.

They suggest you do this 3-4 times a week! Seems a little much for me (especially at 15-20 minutes a pop) and personally, I would only do something like this when I'm having one of my pamper nights. However, it does a quick fix after one, so I can't imagine the results after a constant use!

Overall, I'd definitely invest in more of these, specially for my cosy nights in!

Have you tried any sheet masks?
