What You Probably Been Missing From Your Beauty Regime

The thought of putting oil on my face always made me a bit uncomfortable. I've never had particularly oily skin, but I definitely didn't want it to get worse.

Well, doing some reading lately I found out that actually, oil is pretty damn important to our skin, especially our faces. Some things oil helps with are, wrinkles (due to antioxidants that are found in most oils), protects skin against pollution and they can even shrink your pores!

After being completely enlightened, I went to buy a new mi cellar water, which I buy from Garner, and noticed there was an oil infused mi cellar water. I picked this up and started using it about 2 months ago, and honestly the difference has been insane. I noticed the difference almost immediately. My skin was more even and it was a bit firmer.

I thought as it was working so well, I should definitely try an oil all by itself. I had 2 little bottles of oil from my monthly beauty subscription from Glossy box, one Body Shop, one L'Occitane. Out of the two I definitely felt more of a result from the Body Shop oil, but both have been great.

I'll definitely get round to buying a full sized Body Shop Oils of Youth, but in the meantime I was scanning Amazon and found Hanuka Doctor Facial Oil on offer, so I nabbed it. I've started using it the past few days and I'm already excited to start seeing the results. Kourtney Kardashian is a big fan of Hanuka Doctor, and if it's good enough for her, it's definitely good enough for me!

The moral of the story is USE OIL. Seriously. Use it. Don't let it scare you; you can thank me later.

Benefit Brow Collection: Ready, Set, Brow & Gimme Brow

Fellow make-up addicts, (I'm assuming so because, well, you're reading a make-up post) I'm sure you have heard of Benefit's new Brow Collection. Well, you definitely should have if you take this stuff as seriously as the rest of us. Brows are in. Did you not get the memo?

Anyway, Benefit have a massive collection just for brows, and I got to try these bad boys out for FREE. Ya heard it right. Free.

I hear you yell, "how". Well, this is what scanning the magazine aisle in Tesco more times a week than I'd like to admit does to ya. Basically, they were freebie samples in Cosmo and Glamour. I was even lucky enough to bag myself the Gimme Brow in my colour! Talk about dedicated to the cause.

You've probably seen another post of mine regarding how to get HD Brows in a few seconds. Well, sorry to my little Maybelline, but this bad boy has outshone, outdone and outed my little pride and joy. These products work an absolute treat and it doesn't take long at all.

Gimme Brow

So. Gimme Brow is basically the same idea as the Maybeline one I mentioned in a previous post. Gimme Brow tinted eyebrow gel contains tiny microfibers that adhere to skin & hairs, creating natural-looking fullness and definition.

The custom, tiny tapered brush blends easily while the precision tip shapes hairs into place. The brush comes in three colours, and is priced at £18.50.

Ready, Set, Brow

This is a clear brow gel, which shapes & tames brows and locks on makeup. The custom-molded, dual-sided wand coats hairs from root to tip and the flexible, flake-free formula is easy to apply and quick to dry! This is also priced at £18.50.

The Results

So, this literally took me about 15 seconds for each brow with the Gimme Brow, and then around 5 seconds each with the Ready, Set, Brow. I haven't used any other products on my brows here, whatsoever. If you want to use a little pencil to shape your eyebrows and make them that little bit more defined, the results are incredible. I wanted to just use these products here to show you what these bad boys can do!

What are your go to brow products?

Nyx Lipstick Lingerie: Baby Doll

Review on Nyx Cosmetics Lip Lingerie in Baby Doll. A nude matte lipstick.

I've heard about Nyx Lingerie for a while now, especially after joining a group on Facebook dedicated to make-up addicts.

To my pure joy, Boots opened a Nyx counter in their Cardiff store, and it's massive. I was so happy, seriously. Anyway, I picked up a Lipstick Lingerie in Baby Doll which is a nice nude colour and decided to test them out for myself.

First try - I hated it. I put it on when I hadn't done my makeup properly, and it looked too dark on me and I was unsure of the texture.

I then decided to try it after doing my make-up properly for an event I was going to. My opinion changed, and I fell in love with it. I thought this may have been down to me wearing fake-tan at the time, and it definitely did suit that skin tone better. However I've also used it when I haven't had tan on - and actually done my make-up properly and I still loved it.

I'm definitely going to be buying more of these!

You can buy Nyx Lipstick Lingerie here, for £6.50.

L'Oreal Superliner Superstar: Is this the perfect eyeliner for beginners?

I know, I suck. I'm sorry for my leaf of absence, I've been a tad distracted lately! But a plus - I've bought a ton of new make-up. Not so much of a plus for my bank account - sorry not sorry.

So, on to why I've began my ramblings; I've been practicing hard on my winged eyeliner. I'm getting there, slowly, but surely. I invested in L'Oreal Paris Superliner Superstar Eye Liner in black. I thought this "looks pretty simple", and it has an amazing shape pen nib so thought it would be perfect for beginners to try and perfect that winged cat eye look. It was also only £6.99, so definitely worth a go, right?

My thoughts worked out exactly, and it was definitely an easy application.

However...

Honestly, this stuff doesn't even last 2 hours. I've worn it to a wedding, and shed a little tear and there was absolutely no sight of the eyeliner after minimum of an hour. I've also wore this to a concert, no tears whatsoever, but again the wing had disappeared and the rest was a bit smudged after 2 hours. I've also wore this on a night out, and guess what? Same thing.

I'm so disappointed! I thought this was going to be my holy grail. Definitely won't be repurchasing to continue on my winged eyeliner journey, however for a practice at home this stuff is perfect.

Any advice on what I can try next?

Topshop Highligher: Crescent Moon

My search for an amazing highlighter that doesn't break the bank brought me to Topshops range. But how does it pan out?

As you probably know highlighters are the new must have beauty product. I recently went to a Topshop blogging event for Ivy Park, and before we got round to checking out the clothes, we took a look at their makeup range. I was definitely surprised at what they had on offer, and they seemed really good! So, I went and bought one of their highlights in Crescent Moon for a bargain price of £10.

My search for an amazing highlighter that doesn't break the bank brought me to Topshops range. But how does it pan out?

On first impressions, I loved the packaging. It's simple, but really pretty. I thought the colour was perfect for my skin tone too.

My search for an amazing highlighter that doesn't break the bank brought me to Topshops range. But how does it pan out?

Sadly, I was quite disappointed with this. It doesn't show up very much on your face (even when I had tan on), and is really more of a natural highlighter. There's nothing wrong with that and I'll be able to use this for a more natural look, but I was originally looking for a more pigmented highlight, something that will show up on a camera and in the mirror at first glance.

It's a lovely colour, but I definitely want a more high definition highlight. I guess my search continues!

Any suggestions?

Nyx Soft Matte Lip Creams - Tokyo & London

Trying out matte lipstick for the first time, from the affordable Nyx Cosmetics. Soft Matte Lip Creams, they do as they say on the tin.

It's been a while since I've wanted to try Nyx Cosmetics. Sadly, it hasn't yet hit South Wales (Boots, May 18th I'm coming for ya), but upon my recent visit to London, I obviously had to hit Selfridge's to try them out for myself. After all, I'd heard such amazing things about the quality and value for money on all of their products.

I must say the girls on the counter were amazing, they were definitely run off their feet, but saw me struggling looking for a particular colour, and snapped it up for me through the chaos!

I went for a soft baby pink, which is 03 Tokyo, and I went for something a little different for me - a soft brown, almost a bit 90's, which is 04 London (appropriate!).

What's The Verdict?

I must say that this is my first experience of matte lipsticks, and I loved them, but it definitely confused my brain a little! When I wore it, I felt the urge to put more on as it felt dry, thinking that it had all come off - like a regular lipstick/gloss. But to my amazement it had just sorta, stained my lips. I guess this took getting used to more than a usual product!

You can see from the picture above, that the Tokyo shade is very natural, very summery, very cute. It's a really lovely shade of pink and definitely not an in-your-face colour.

I LOVED this. This is so out of my comfort zone but I really liked it. I felt so 90's. I'm usually all about the nude but this was a great step up!

Overall, both colours were great for me. They both go on lovely, are really creamy and well pigmented. And guess what? They're bloomin' £5.50 each. Seriously, Nyx, what ya doing to a girl? I'll take one in each shade.

You can buy Nyx Soft Matte Lip Cream in all shades here for £5.50.
